Alright, at first I did not read too many good reviews about this game and I wasn’t going to buy it, but in the end I gave in and bought it with good money.
I would call this game a tactical First Person Shooter. It is true that the game does not draw you in right from the start. Combat is much more tactical than in a standard FPS game and you need to even run and hide if you want to survive. Especially in the begining, if you don’t run and expect to shoot everybody down then you will lose and maybe get frustrated. If you want to capture a fort by shooting everybody down you will most probably never going to do it as you will be overwhelmed by enemies. So, you must play this game right if you want to enjoy it. If you can run and hide to avoid enemies, then do it. There is not much to gain by shooting them down, anyway.
This game also features a story which progresses quite nicely, with cut scenes and all and a bit of drama. But again the general setting spoils it a bit. I mean, it would be so much better if the enemies were some kind of alien or other invaders, but being North Koreans who invaded the U.S. and now they are providing aid and peace to the locals it is HUGELY RIDICULOUS. So, if you forget this propaganda type of story and imagine something else, like a world demise you can enjoy the game even better.
Needless to say, that the graphics are superb, the gameplay is fine, and although there are many repetitive type of missions, you do not need to do them all. For example, I captured the areas near or around the next target of the story to make it easier to progress the story. Also, as I mentioned above many quest are “capture the flag” type of missions which means that once you activate a device or destory a target the entire area or fortress is immediately cleared. You do not need to shoot everybody inside. Avoid them if you can.
I would 100% recommend the game. In the end you will not be disappointed and you will not feel that you were robbed off your money. This game which has gone through some difficult times to get finished surely deserves its money.
